Everyone says and does things they're less than proud of, myself included. I'm not suggesting that a Blanket Apology is the proper approach to addressing this aspect of life, but it's a step in a better direction than simply ignoring things.
"I want to sincerely apologize to everyone I've ever hurt or offended with my words or behavior..."
Forgiveness is completely out of my hands, so I don't expect that from my statement. This aspect of building a better future self is about personal awareness. Do No Harm approach to engagement with others. If you are unable to deliver benefit, then at a minimum don't cause harm. Homo Sapiens face enough challenges as it is, so stirring in more is kicking while down kinda shit.
"Who the fuck do you think you are...?
You see, that's just the thing with all this, it's not about me. I'm only using myself as an example of an idea. Everyone has a better version of themselves locked up inside their present self. Your path must follow your life, I just want to nudge you towards growth in a different direction than the one you're on. Trust me, few of our species are hell bent on making things better for everyone! If that were the case, then why are there so many fractured social pockets among Homo Sapiens as a whole? Biologically, we're all nearly identical 😳
That pan of Thanksgiving Tamales represents the grand idea of smoothing the edges between cultures in order to allow for more complexity, absent of the friction from defending perceived honor. I made cornbread dressing for Thanksgiving, because that's my cultural preference, but instead of using all the cornbread for that single purpose, I used half of it the following day as the Masa for a tamale idea. I chopped some leftover turkey and used as the filling. Viola...Turkey & Dressing Tamales. Served with some green chili gravy, and two cultures meet as one.
"Give this idea the opportunity to inspire you..."
We've all inherently established the differences between ourselves and everyone else. We mark those we admire, love, respect, and identify with. The remaining strangers are held at arms length for reasons of doubt and trust, given our understanding of how fucked up Homo Sapiens can be to each other. This mindset has delivered us at the doorstep of today. Last time I checked, things are great for a small minority, and shitty for the vast majority. So, wouldn't a new disruptive mindset be a better alternative to the one we've used to get here?
"A Thanksgiving Tamale in every pot..."
We already have religion for setting a righteous example! Yeah, that's worked out swell for everyone following along. There are somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty thousand varieties of religion scattered across the history of Homo Sapiens, all proclaiming to be The One. Want some modern day social friction, rub two religious ideologies together, and watch the sparks fly. Herds are super shitty about blending together and giving up the authority to those they've identified as Different. Take out a member as an individual, smooth out the rough edges from their ego, spray them down with compassion and self confidence, and program them to inspire others. Well...we, don't know what that herd even looks like.
"I've simply chosen to use myself as a case study for this vision of a better future..."
This means transforming my past self into something more improved. I'm truly sorry if that past self fucked with your life in a less than positive way. I'm dedicated to making amends by searching for a better version of that past self...
